I Need Ideas For A Happy Hour Party?

My friends and I want to start happy hour parties. Everyone has to come up with a theme. For the first party my friend will have martini’s. I need a theme! I want to do something with light and dark Rum. But what? I need food, drinks, and decor ideas.

Think Mai Tai’s meet Mojitos! Since you are looking at light and dark rums, perhaps your theme can include the “light and dark side”. Food? Rum drinks tend to run on the sweet side, so I’m thinking some savory dishes might work well, such as:
    1. Hot artichoke and crab dip with tortilla chips
    2. Crab dip with crackers
    3. Teriyaki chicken wings
    4. Mini meatballs in bbq sauce
    5. Pigs in a Blanket
    6. Brie En Croute
    7. Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Decorations should be black and white, with silver accents. Lots of candles, mirrored confetti, white linen table clothes. Add some greenery, mini white lights and you’ve got a nice setting.

do an island getaway theme use tiki torches in your back yard, hang brightly colored lanterns and bamboo. make everyone dress in tacky tourist clothes and give out a prize for the tackiest tourist. serve up coconut rum with pineapple and cranberry juice…look for those fake coconut cups at a party supply store for the fun factor and dont forget the little cocktail umbrellas. make seabreezes (www.idrink.com)
and blue hawaii’s which consist of blue curacao and coconut rum and pineapple juice. salso make jerk wings and coconut shrimp (or tequila lime prawns with red chiles)

Light and dark rum… Fruity drinks, hence a beach theme? Consider the following…
    * Have everyone dress in hawaiian shirts, wearing shades and stuff of the like. If it’s cold, turn up the thermosat and make it warm!!!
    * Grill up some shish kebabs, bbq chicken and fruit trays.
    * Play reggae and Beach Boys… Put up some blow up palm trees and maybe even a hammock! Cut out a sun and tape it to the wall.
    * Make pina coladas, frozen daquiris and jello shots. Put slices of pineapple on the glasses with really bright straws.
    * Play limbo!
I’ll edit this post as I think of more stuff.
    Hope this helps!

I have a cute idea. I do not know how big you want to go…But here ya go! Have a P ussy Cat Doll party where your friends dress up like a P ussy Cat Dolls and you can supply boas and beads. (available at Oriental Trading Company, or local party supply store) You can play music and make up dances. Sometimes you can even hire someone to come to your home to teach you how to do exotic dances, like belly dancing. The drinks can be fruity girly drinks! For quick snacks, serve cheese, crackers and fruits.http://www.drinkoftheweek.com/blog/girly…
Hope this is not too over the top for your happy hour.
