Q&A: Do you find it as humorous as I do that the left is suddenly concerned about the deficit?

Here they’ve added close to $ 3 trillion to the debt over the last couple of years and now they’ve got a new found concern for debt and spending. Where was this concern when they were driving up that debt even over the objections of communist China?

I think it’s funny how mindless partisans of both sides flip-flop about the deficit.

Reagans’ massively inflating the deficit? Liberals are enraged! Conservatives think it’s a good thing.

Bush is doing it? Same thing!

Obama’s doing it? Suddenly the deficit is the devil to conservatives, and liberals are suddenly cool with it.

Obama’s doing it by cutting taxes on the rich? Back to the Reagan mentality!

The possibility for political gains would be massively reduced in this country if people would pick a set of principles and stick to them, instead of adapting their ideologies and opinions to match whatever political hero/demon they currently worship or despise.

Humorous. That’s silly. There are several things that are of concern to everyone who is of sound mind. The deficit being run up in the advanced economies is one of them. The banking crisis however is the main thing that the world has focused on recently. This had to be solved by putting liquidity into the system. This was achieved through heavy borrowing. Once that crisis was solved the debt run up to solve it could then be addressed. Simple really. humorous never.
