Sounds kind of evil and disturbing to me.

Answer by Desert
Yes. A President should never be “amused” by dissent. It’s arrogant.

Answer by sister_godzilla
He’s extremely arrogant and an elitist punk. He doesn’t listen to the people, just mocks anyone who criticizes him.
Sorry to say that the prez is an sob. He should resign and let a grown up have the job.

Answer by civil_av8r
When most people can’t debate the subject at hand they are reduced to name calling and degradation as their only tools. It happens all the time on Y!A.

Answer by chukki
Thus the bipartisanship in our government and country. I wish he would grow up and realize that this isn’t a football game!

Yes, there is something definitely wrong there. That’s not the way to get this country to support you. He also said we are the greatest super power. He may eat his words some day.

Nothing new there. Standard liberal arrogance.

It is his way of thumbing his nose at white America. He is saying.. I’m president and there is nothing you can do about it for now.. so I will just do as I please, and to hell with all of you!

He won’t be so amused when they kick his ass out of Washington!

There is something wrong when the President begins to ridicule a large number of Americans. First it was the comment about people in Pennsylvania clinging to their guns and religion. More recently it was people who drive pickup trucks. Now it’s the tea party.

His odds of galvanizing the people under his leadership have been dramatically reduced. This is a divisive man.

  16. JW B says:

No he is saying he is amused that the rallies are screaming about higher taxes when tax rates are at or near historic lows and 98% of Americans received a tax cut this year. I find that amusing as well…

“Middle-income Americans are now paying federal taxes at or near historically low levels, according to the latest available data. That’s true whether it comes to their federal income taxes or their total federal taxes”

    http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=3151&emailView=1

Citizens for Tax Justice, a self-described non-partisan organization, released a report on Tuesday that read: “The 2009 economic stimulus bill actually reduced federal income taxes for tax year 2009 for 98 percent of all working families and individuals.” This total includes the 95 percent of working families that will or have received tax credits in the range of $400 to $800.

They are funny, they are disorganized, different groups have different things they protest. They wear funny hats. They don’t know what they are protesting, nor do they take notice of the fact that for most taxes have gone down under Obama.
I’m amused by them too. Bemused too.

Why is this group, of around a half million by their own estimates, getting so much publicity?
That’s like one quarter of the people who live in Brooklyn.
Their signs only serve to remind people that racism still has a place in public, and hate is for nice white people too. They are a bunch of people who are mad that their privileged place in life isn’t secure, and they might have to move over a little and let others up on the hayride.

What there are millions of is Republicans who didn’t vote for Obama, who wouldn’t like him or his policies even if they operated with the speed of light, he really couldn’t do anything to please them except leave. He has to take the insults, the pictures of him as an African witch doctor, or mad racially exaggerated Joker, with a smile, he really has no choice.

  18. anotherone773 says:

Who isnt amused besides the tea baggers? If your not a bagger have you heard the ridiculous things these people say? They want to go as far as get the state “militias” together to fight the federal government if need be. These people are complete morons. Want to take their states out of the union.

And baggers do not number in the millions. These people encourage extremism.. So you want to turn into Iran?

The funny thing is this was start by a white female psychologist with a few friends on tax day last year to protest higher taxes we havent got yet. And a bunch of people joined in and turned it into a hate convention that spread moronic feudal ideas. It is also amusing a majority of tea baggers are while males over the age of 45 that are upper middle class to upper class. Most are white collar professionals.

Of course the ones in the higher tax brackets are going to cry foul we are going to be hurting their precious entertainment budget in the future.

  19. Bill C says:

He knows that the Tea Party does not have the resources like his political machine. He has PAC money from the AFL-CIO International Unions across the country. I think he is underestimating the ability of Tea Party members impacting the next elections. This is the silent majority we saw in the 1980′s when the incoherent Jimmy Carter was bumbling the economy and military. President Obama is making fun of the Tea Parties to try and slow down their growth.

  20. Dedicated Secularist says:

What about the millions of Americans who aren’t disgruntled?

Besides, I seriously doubt that there are “millions” of Tea Party members.

By the way, I did not vote for Obama.

  21. Armchair Goddess #1 says:

Did you by any chance listen to the ENTIRE speech or just pull a beckian maneuver and pull a few words out of context? First of all, there are not “MILLIONs” of teabagging evangelicals…try more like a few hundred thousand or so…only around 500 of which showed up in a Washington D.C. rally. At a Democratic fundraiser, President Obama was lauding the many TAX CUTS that have been enacted by his Administration over the past 15 months (to include the increase in child tax credit, small business tax cuts, tax credits for first-time home buyers and home renovators using green technologies to cut fuel costs, college credits, and the TAX CUT effective April 1 of last year for 95% (that’s NINETY-FIVE PERCENT) of working Americans who make less than $250,000 a year. What the president then said was that he found their protest of taxes “amusing” following by a comedic pause, an Obama grin, and the words to which you refer: “I thought they would be thanking me.” Come to think of it…why aren’t these anti-taxation people thanking this president for reducing both the taxes—and the annual deficit by 8% in the first half of the fiscal year (which runs from October 1st, 2009, when the Bush/Cheney fiscal year ended, to March 30th, 2010—a six-month period overall)? The deficit reduction was reported by Bloomberg News, and by Reuters, and was attributed to the $181 BILLION in paybacks from 14 of the 400 “welfare” banks whose fatcat greed-driven CEOs did not want to be limited to the Democrats’ and President Obama’s restructions on their annual salary to $500,000/year (poor fatcat babies) until we taxpayers got fully repaid WITH INTEREST! We ALL most definitely SHOULD be thanking this miracle-working president for CLEANING UP the GOP’s MESSES, just as did President Clinton before him (remember savings and loan collapse anyone?)!

  22. badmofaux says:

    Good for him.
    I find them laughable myself.
Yet another way “Barry” is earning points with moderates… REAL moderates.

If it were real dissent worth paying attention to, he’d engage them in a public Q&A forum, at a townhall meeting.

But, it’s not. It’s a bunch of ignorant folks throwing a tantrum.
Even the GOP is starting to see them this way.

If he gets a chuckle out of it, I’m ok with that.
If he ignores it, I’d be ok with that too.

    Is there something wrong? Yes.
A few thousand people have decided to ignorantly scream, chant, rant and blather. And, they get in the way of thinking folks.

Like a cloud of gnats. Big, fat, ignorant, bigoted gnats.

  23. Silver Bear says:

Yes. First, a president should be mature enough to respect descent. Bush did. Clinton did. Reagan did and Carter did. Second, Obama was a community organizer. He promoted descent and his friends supported descent. Now he is upset because millions of Americans ORGANIZE and rally against his policies? I guess community organizing is only valid if it supports Obama’s agenda. Then remember when Hillary said that descent is patriotic back when Bush was president? Obama is a thin-skinned man-child who needs to grow up, suck it up and start acting like a world leader. If he does not like the descent, he should have never ran for President. Descent comes with the job Mr. President. What did he think when he ran? That all Americans were just going to fall all over themselves in awe of his “greatness”?

Next, Obama does not even have the tea party agenda correct. The tea party participants are protesting bigger government which will result in less liberty and higher taxes. They are not claiming that taxes have increased now. They know what’s coming in the near FUTURE – higher taxes and less freedom for everyone.

Finally, for those undiscerning individuals who blindly follow the words of the President. No. The president did NOT cut taxes. If he did the tax rates would be lower. What he did was decrease the amount of taxes taken out of workers checks each month per the number of exemptions. Some of you reading this will immediately say to yourselves, that is also a tax cut. Nope — because he did not change the end of the year tax burden on tax payers so those us who pay taxes and typically get refunds, saw lower refunds or had to pay taxes at the end of the year or the first time because our tax burden (amount of tax due) did NOT change. In short, Obama gave tax payers a “temporary loan” that had to be paid back when tax payers did their tax returns… I lost money on my tax return so NO I am NOT thanking the President for anything because he provided me with NOTHING.

Armchair Goodness: “..reduced the annual deficit by 8% in the first half of the fiscal year ..” You need to check out your “facts”? Go to the Dept. of Treasury’s website deficit calculator – put in the dates you mention and then tell us all how the President reduced the annual deficit by 8%? Did you know here that the annual deficit for last year was close to 1.5 TRILLION and the deicit for this year is over 1.5 TRILLION???

Also, using Media Matters as a resource is not being too balanced. Media Matters is a liberal/progressive think tank started by Hllary Clinton. Gee. I wonder what results they are going to come up with? You may as well have quoted the Daily Kos or MoveOn.org.

  24. September Girl says:

Yes there is many things wrong with him but we wont go there right now. This is in response of people claiming taxes have gone down.In an article by Stephen Ohlemacher of the Washington Post(a very liberal newspaper by the way) from thursday 4-1510 he states Americans are paying less taxes this year but it wont last .In the next few years many will pay more. Some future increases were enacted as part of Obama’s health-care overhaul. And former President George Bush’s tax cuts expire in January .Obama and the democrats want to renew only some of them, thus raising taxes for individuals making more than $200,000 and couples making more than $250,000.I know to some of the children here on yahoo that seems way out of their league but these tax bracket earners are generally in the small business range and could affect unemployment even more! At the same time many states raised taxes last year because they are required by state constitutions to balance their budgets, even during a recession. In all states increased personal income taxes by $11.4 billion, according to National Conference of State Legislatures. They increased sales taxes by 47.2 Billion and business taxes by $2 billion. The biggest tax increase in the health care overhaul is limited to individuals making more than $200,000 and couples making $250,000,though other increases would hit lower income tax payers. For the first time, Medicare payroll tax would be applied to investment income beginning in 2013.We know the taxman cometh and over the next few years,he certainly will be coming with a vengeance. So enjoy this year while it lasts.

Yes I thought what a tyrant in the making, how does Americans standing up for what we believe become fodder for his ridicule cannon! It clearly demonstrates his ignorance and arogance, as well aas ineffective leadership qualities in my opinion

  26. Nt says:

Well, you have to admit that it is rather amusing that the Democrats can do whatever they want to the country and neither the Republicans, the Tea Party activists or anyone else can do anything about it. Sure, the Democrats can eventually be voted out of office, maybe, but you can’t put the feathers back in the chicken once it’s been plucked! People thinking they can do that is pretty amusing!
