Try Adelaide’s Lament from Guys and Dolls. Have used this piece several times with students for music festival performance and always a winner with the adjudicators.

I agree that Adelaine’s Lament is wonderful. However, this young woman didn’t indicate whether or not she can sing (even at all). If you can even a little, then definitely do Adelaine’s Lament. It’s fantastic, even for those of us who barely sing. However, if this is for a straight reading, find a copy of the play “Talking With.” The entire play is a series of monologues for women, from young to elderly. I found one that I used for several auditions and made it to callbacks every single time. I can’t remember the playwright’s name. But go to Samuel French online and look for “Talking With.” You’ll find it. Break a leg!
