For instance, Bridget Jones’s Diary was a contemporary, humorous take on the novel. What are other funny ways one could adapt the story?

I love that book/movie!

You could have an adaptation where a girl is at a high school and she’s really quiet and shy, but she’s pretty (Elizabeth). Her sisters go to the same school (Jane) hangs out with Elizabeth but her sisters (Kitty), (Lydia), and (Mary) all have bad reps at the school. And then you can have a jock who’s really stuck up, and they could fall in love, etc….

okay this might be crazy but what if it were sort of a parody taking place in a trailer park.

Elizabeth could be “Bitsy” who lives in a trailer with her trailer trash mother who’s always making a scene like in the TV show cops. Then there’s all the sisters, with the youngest one getting into a bit of trouble like in the novel but instead of her reputation at stake, she’d be knocked up by a neighbor boy and forced to marry by Mr. Darcy who could be from the other side of the tracks or something. Like a parole officer or something wacky.
