Hi,I did the following:
Question: Why does my dog act so hilarious after a bath?

I have an 8 year old Maltese that I adopted a few months ago. She is the sweetest little dog and super cute. Since Maltese have long fur, they have to be washed every 10 days or so.

Whenever I give her a bath at home (sometimes she goes to the groomer) she goes CRAZY when she gets out of the bathtub. As soon as I towel dry her, she runs all over the place with a CRAZY, HYPER look on her face. She drags her face and body all over the carpet, jumps and leaps around like a puppy and acts really playful and funny. It’s HILARIOUS!

I was wondering if a lot of other dogs act this way after a bath. Why do they do this? Does anyone have a BIG dog who does this? My dog weighs 6 lbs and gets pretty hyper and crazy. Do big dogs ever get out of control? Do all or most dogs do this after a bath? The LOOK on her face is the funniest thing, she is all wide-eyed and insane looking. It’s FUNNY OMG!
Most stuff I read says to wash a Maltese every 10-14 days. The groomer said it’s ok too. Less than twice a month and she would be a MESS! She also needs brushing every other day.

That’s funny my dog does the same! I think it’s just their way of drying themselves….

Must. Get. Bath. Cooties. Off.

Mine does the same thing, and it makes me laugh every time.

I have a 120 # Bluetick Coonhound. He jumps and wiggles and rolls around like a nut case. I do believe it is just his way of 1) Being happy the bath is finally over and 2) Drying himself off.

He hates taking a bath and get’s very stressed out..drooling and such…during his bathtime.

Dogs are funny. ;)

It helps them dry themselves.

My newfie mix goes nuts after his bath.
But my puppy is the worst. She’s learnt how to jump on beds, so when giving her a bath I have to shut all the doors. But she’s getting far too smart. They hate towels too. If my puppy sees a towel she’ll run! lol

My older dog also acts like a puppy after a bath. He’s about 10 years. He jumps around and rolls over. :)

Is funny.

LOL, my dog does this too!! I bath him in a big tub outside (don’t worry, I put in warm water), and even though he’s not a huge fan of baths he goes crazy when he gets out. He runs around onto the deck where I have 2 giant towels waiting, and he goes crazy. I never realised other of dogs did it.
He is 27.25kg, which is 60 pounds. He goes crazy, he wiggles and jumps and barks, and yes he gets the funny look on his face too! My dog is a Samoyed, and I’m actually bathing him in a couple of days for a show this weekend.
I have no clue why they do it, but it sure is funny, and so cute!

By the way, good on you for adopting an older dog. Lots of people nowadays that want breeds like the Maltese often get a “designer” breed instead, or a puppy from a pet shop. The fact you adopted an older dog is really great! And it’s very cute to imagine a smaller version of my dog (he’s white long haired too, being a Samoyed) doing the crazy after bath dance.

Most dogs behave like this after having a bath,i think that bathing her evey 10 days or so is very excessive. You should brush and comb her every day and this will keep her coat clean and healthy without drying out her skin and maybe causing future problems.Hope this helps Good Luck C x

My pomeranian does the same thing – she rubs her body all over the carpet but she seems uncomfortable… it is pretty funny though.
