Question: Yahoo R&S stopped being amusing after 1 month. How do people stick with inane activities even after realizing?

I do plenty of pointless things in my day to day life. Pick my nose, watch television, feed my children. What steps need to be taken so I can stick with Yahoo Answers even though I’ve come to the full realization of how boring and incredibly stupid it actually is? I really want to make it to Level 3. Thanks!

Really? I’m still amused, and going on 2 years.

I’m easily amused, admittedly.

Honestly, I’m actually picking my nose and watching TV while I do this. Good thing I don’t have any children, they’d ruin this SWEET setup!

I’m about done. It has lost its luster and I’ve broken the links that needed broken, pushed all the buttons I felt like pushing… now I’m just annoying people I’d barely call human. It really is pathetic.

No one is forcing you to be here. If we fail to amuse you, find something else to do. In my various incarnations here on R&S, I have sometimes taken off months at a time when I became bored with it.

Read a book. Listen to some kind of music you have never listened to before. Go for a walk- you can take the kids with you. Life’s big. You aren’t stuck here.

I’ve been away and now i feel a lot better about it. I think it probably feeds something voyeuristic in me which probably isn’t very good, but that may not apply to other people on here. You don’t have to come on R&S to get to Level 3. You could go on a different section and help people with their car problems or their knitting instead, and you’d still be able to get there.

One needs to be bored. I mean really bored. Then too, one sometimes (not often) runs across a real theological question.

Start making a game of how many sarcastic answers you can give before you get suspended.

For me, it is only the poinlessness and futility of it that keeps it fresh.

That, and all of the truly dumb questions – I just LOVE giving sarcastic answers to them. When I get bored, I go over to the Pregnancy section and start answering all of the “AM I pregnant?” questions.

    Good times, man. Good times.

Your real motive should be to be willing to truly help someone. It is discouraging, but one should be humble enough to realize you cannot help everyone. Perhaps you will only be able to help one person, but that person is important. And also, one should always be receptive to the ideas others in that we ourselves can learn something new also. Forget the credits, just keep plugging away if you think you can help.

this will amuse me for years. where else can you come and read some crazy sh– every day.

hearing some of these peoples rationals helps me remember how level headed and open minded i am. but it also reminds me how many closed minded, hate loving, intolerant people there are in this world.
i.e. most, not all, of the religious followers

Hey-you’re on here- YOU asked this question- obviously it’s not as boring as you are saying it is or you wouldn’t even bother looking in.

allow the stupidity, the hostility, the mundane troling and arrogance to actually be the fun part
    and have fun with it
otherwise, you will end up where many of us are, not on much anymore

  15. Pick a different section or gtfo.
