ah i believe the solution you are looking for is “Scare Tactics”

if you haven’t seen the show yet,you should watch atleast a couple of episodes,it really gets the victim into thinking he’s not going to make it.

the best part is,if you want to scare your bf you can get in touch with them and they’ll set up the entire thing.But first go through a couple of those shows to see if you like the tactics they use.Some people find it overwhelmingly scary.

Use some string to “move” things around the house.
Dimmer lights are good but not so dark he figures it out too quickly.
