Q&A: Are the Republicans on here happy that there is good solid economic news today (Construction Starts) or?

Are the Republicans on here happy that there is good solid economic news today (Construction Starts) or are they really trying hard to undermine all economic recovery?
Add to the good news on housing starts the industry group ISM is reporting the best Manufacturing growth since 2006.

No, good economic news is always questioned and belittled by republicans today.

Thier vigorous attempts to keep the country in recession should be noted by all.

One of the main reasons employment rates are so slow to rebound is that business owners are not convinced we are moving out of recession and are not hiring until they are certain. Republicans doing all they can to convince everyone that things are only going get worse are individually responsible for the lengthy unemployment rates.

They should be ashamed of themselves

Are you aware of the things Obama included in his jobs numbers? Do you realize that he included raises for existing jobs as a new job? He included temporary positions (less than a month) as a new job that he created……how can you trust anything you hear these days?

Answer by Stereotypemebecauseyouknow
Of course. I hope it lasts, but am very concerned about the massive spending that Democrats always tout. I live in Blue NY State where the government takes so much from us that we have 28+% poverty. That’s the Liberal way.

Remember that when the government gives you something, it took it from someone else.

So, I painted my bathroom over the weekend while a Painter was collecting unemployment. That’s the NY Way!

Well considering republicans are people too, I know, hard to believe, they have to shop at the same places as everyone else, and live the same lives as everyone else, so I believe that they would be happy that the economy has some good news. =]

Un employment is still up…

Only economic recovery has been from the Clunkers program…

CITI is going under….

Gas is still up….

And Obama wants to take over the health care program….

No, we don’t have to do anything….Obama is killing the economic all by himself…but that may be the plan….destroy America….and fundamentally change it….into a marxist country….

what good news? Some project where over 50% of the workers are illegal immigrants and the contractors are not forced to check citizenship status. How is this good for the U.S. economy?

Conservatives are more concerned with the overall long term impact of printing so much money out of thin air along with having so much debt piled out.

For instance, what happens once the country’s credit rating drops and the interest rates on our trillions in debt skyrocket? Or when a gallon of gas is $25 and a Big Mac is maybe $20 in a few years due to hyperinflation? Especially when we keep pushing our core production industries out of the country with high taxes and excessive regulation.

Their math on ‘recovery’ has proven so tortured on other points (the GDP gain being a cash for clunkers and housing tax credit blip, for example) that I first await the breakdown. Note that construction starts had gone so low, with housing companies laying off entire divisions, that it wouldn’t take much to be an uptick from THAT. Even just the temporary housing credit bump and direct pumping of stimulus funds (neither of which is an indication of a recovering economy) could give SOME uptick.

However, I don’t know the basis yet for these particular numbers.

Don’t you get it though that anything propped up by the stimulus funds we are in debt for, only, is a cost to the economy not a sign of recovery?

Considering that only about 20% of Americans are even willing to identify themselves as Republicans, I am not very concerned about what they think of any economic news, good or bad. Eight years of their rule got us into this mess. They would have to admit that their party messed up bigtime to now be happy with any good economic news. I’m not holding my breath for that to happen.

Remember that Dubya could think of no mistakes he’d made as our country sunk further and further into an economic abyss. The same holds true for the 20% of Republicans who are still around.

cant really start construction in the winter.so whoever told you that has you misinformed.you need warm weather to pour a concrete foundation

If YOU happen to be one of the almost 4 million newly unemployed under Obama – I would guess you don’t give a rat’s asss what the propaganda MSM news is – you just want a job. When the $50,000+ of “stimulus” cash tacked onto the back of every man, woman and child runs out what will the downturn be? In my state the news today is that “stimulus” money saved or created 17,000 jobs mostly in the education sector. PUZZLING – since by state law Federal money cannot be used to pay salaries – Salaries are funded by Operating Levies on the state level only. I wouldn’t believe too much of the good Obama news – so far his job creations by his claims are 650,000 against 4 million lost and that’s braggin’ material for him and Joe Biden!

It’s great that things aren’t going totally to hell, but I’m afraid it’s only because the government propped things up this summer with Cash for Clunkers and the First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit. Now that those programs have ended I’m afraid the good economic news is going to end with them.

  8. Brianne says:

I live in Wisconsin, and our jobs are gone. Most of us are not construction workers and this time of year is not the time of year to start any long term construction jobs. So the construction workers now working will be pretty much laid off so exactly how is this going to help us? You can’t pour cement so you can’t build. Understand? We need jobs desperately here, jobs that the majority of us can do, not these temporary ones that the illegals will suck up.
