Q&A: Has anyone else noticed an increase in ethnic “jokes” since Obama was elected?

Specifically from supposed “Christians”? It is sickening. People I grew up with, people I know, people who are Boy Scout leaders and parents, people who all I know about them is that they go to church, none of whom I ever heard ethnic jokes from, all of them suddenly think it’s perfectly alright to tell, forward, or laugh at ethnic jokes. It is truly revolting and it has now strained relations within my own family. Your thoughts?

Answer by Chris
It isn’t Christians doing it.

And it is sad and wrong that it is happening.

Answer by Paddy O’Furniture
Maybe it’s just the people you hang out with. Or, perhaps you are just trolling against Christians.

  3. Amber says:

A lot of them can’t accept that their candidate lost. They’re already saying what a horrible job Obama will do, and he hasn’t even been sworn in yet! At least wait a year or two until he’s actually done something before you start slamming him. And who knows, maybe he’ll surprise you. Honestly, who wasn’t impressed with how organized his campaign was? Even Republican leaders were saying they’d never seen anything like it.

I think that’s very true. I’ve heard ethnicity jokes from both sides. Maybe it just shows you that people are still no where near over the whole race issue.

  5. PEACHES & CREAM says:

Of course I’ve noticed this. It is very immature.

ef you sir, this country is built of trying to break down the other ethnicitys, and you know what, its not a stereotype if its true.

p.s. ethnic jokes are very funny

  10. Layla Renee (Saved) says:

No I haven’t heard any. I’m not too fond of Obama, but that is really rude to encourage ethnic jokes. Shame on them!

  11. efritzliepke says:

Yeah…I’ve noticed that and the rampant increase of people being rediculously politically correct (as far a race is concerned). It’s a reflection (or a refraction) of the same IGNORANT crap coming from the two extremes. Too bad people can’t just BE themselves and treat everyone else accordingly.

  12. Dena J says:

Your just trying to blame christians like everyone else. Blacks think we are racist because we didn’t vote for him, but they are wrong they are racist because they voted for Him just to have a “black ” president. Race is throw into everything. I don’t hate them, they too if christians will make it to heaven. they just think we owe them something. it was THEIR ancestors that sold them, ours just bought them. NOT our fault

  13. Gorgeoustx Proud American! says:

Yes, but I am not surprised.

Fundies are a hate filled bunch of bigots.

Not where I live, most people from around here are just glad to see the end of Bush’s reign.

  15. Serenity says:

They are people with slime for a brain. They are toxic and cause harm only to themselves by allocating themselves with nice juicy sins. Which eventually will make them the fuel for hell.

  16. The Gallant Gael says:

You heard all that in one day? You have big ears maybe?

  17. Mike says:

Me again. It’s only sickening to those who are uptight and consider skin color an issue. I myself am Polish and get a very big kick out of hearing Polish jokes and have no hard feelings with those who tell them. Race is an issue because people are uptight and make it one. Not to mention racism with blacks has been enhanced by programs launched by Democrats such as affirmative action and quota’s which make blacks feel insecure, victimized and separated from the rest of us. Also, don’t you find it a bit funny that those who are always crying racism are so excited about an African American being elected ? I mean if skin is not an issue then why are you celebrating over a black man getting in office ?

  18. Eva B says:

I have heard moaning & groaning but no jokes yet. Thank God.

  19. Willie D says:

I expect a 50% increase in ethnic jokes because Obama is only 50% black.
