Question: Is there an ethnic group or geographical region that is the butt of many jokes in your country?
In Canada, they make jokes about people from Newfoundland. In the UK, it’s the Irish, in the USA it is (was?) the Polish, in Turkey it’s the ‘Laz’ people from the Black Sea coast.
What about in your culture? And if you’re from the area that gets made fun of, do you take it in good humour or does it bother you?

yup – for us it’s the ‘aargauer’. it the county next to one of the big cities in my country (switzerland) and they are looked at as peasants…
but i am not from there so i don’t bother 
)

sometimes it bothers me because people don’t have any idea what they’re talking about…like when they say “you are such a jew!” and don’t know a **** thing about the jewish religion… but most of the time it doesn’t bother me. Like when they say hillbilly or redneck, as long as they arent being hateful

In my region, Dalmatia south part of Croatia, main target are people from island Brac all the jokes about very cheap people are concerning them, but they are that old that not even people from Brac have a problem with that ( plus I got to know few of them that are really cheap )

In Australia we are very multicultural so it’s anyone and everyone really!! I’m an Indigenous Australian and we get a lot of jokes, some are nasty and some are really ffunny but it’s what you think of yourself that gets you through the bad ones, being positive.

The guys who wear turbans and have beards…I think Canada has a lot of Sikhs…
