Q&A: Why are people in the Philippines so happy compared to Filipinos living abroad?
Hi,I did the following:
Question: Why are people in the Philippines so happy compared to Filipinos living abroad?
Why are people in the Philippines so happy compared to Filipinos living abroad? Filipinos who live abroad make more money and live a more momfortable lifestyle, however, people in the Philippines seem happier. Yeah, they don’t have as much money but for some reason they just seem to always be warm and know how to have a good time.
Can anyone explain this to me? I just don’t get it sometimes.

They are at home in their own culture, speaking their own language with their friends and family. Overseas they make money and sell their souls for it. Vlad is right … money isn’t everything.

Money can’t buy you everything – that is sooo true. You’re gonna die of loneliness out there.

Money can’t buy happiness.
Only a few Filipinos are living abroad and they feel they are different there unlike in the native land, where all of your neighbors are Pinoy and your relatives are just a call or text away you can see them right away. Its really hard living on a foreign land emotionally but when you talk about money you can be financially happy there and as we all know money can’t buy happiness.

It can be lonely out there away from family and friends. Away from the familiar sights and sounds – and food!

Just one look at statistics of the Department of Employment & Labor, Philippines Overseas Workers Welfare Association of people who have departed from the Philiipines to take jobs aboad….will prove that your question is incorrect. No offense meant.
An increasing number of Filipino nationals are simply awaiting a chance to leave their country and break free from the shackles of crippling poverty that exists in the Philippines. While some have the resources to do so, a majority don’t. And to add to that, the Philippines government is literally pushing Filipinos to take jobs abroad, so they can remit more money home and bolster the national exchequer.
Yes, there are a few Filipinos who would rather stay home since they have adequate money and more to live happily. But these are a small minority as compared to others who are not as fortunate and would do anything to get a job or live abroad.
They are not in a rat race yet…They are not stressed to show they are better off than anyone else? They enjoy the moments they have, enjoy that life is good surrounded by family and friends in their own communities.
People who have less money and do not aspire for what the Joneses have are always happier. They enjoy what they have and become happier if they get more than what they expected.
They would not really care that other people are richer than them and would say the situation they are in is what their fate landed them in.
They have faith and do not blame God for their misfortunes but believe they will have their turn.
How would you imagine being in their plights?
they don’t have to deal with other races.
People in the Philippines is happy compared to Filipinos living abroad for various reasons: In the Philippines, people live happy go lucky. They were surrounded with family and friends. They don’t have a lot of stress about their jobs. No mortgage to think about, car payments or lot of credit card payments. They’re content of what they’ve got.
Filipinos living abroad: well, it’s that thing about looking back where you came from. They have a lot of stress at work or sometimes they have to work two jobs to pay the mortgage or rent. There’s that big car payment for that expensive suv plus the insurance, etc. Then of course they have to send money or stuff back to the Philippines to help out. and for some folks back in the Philippines, they thought that their love ones in abroad is just raking money or something. So, go figure.
Most of the answers above are quite valid, but I think from your question itself shows that you got a good idea already
It’s simply because they live in there own country.
They live with their family and friends.
Though living in abroad…you earned a big amount of money…and you can almost buy anything you wanted… but still… living with your love ones is still the best… even if you don’t have that much of money.
because there’s no place like home… that explains it all…
My dad always tells me that here in America you have a fridge full of beer but nobody to drink with. You have hundreds of toys but nobody to play with.
This is true and somehow always stuck with me….
this is exactly what i feel ryt now. its killing me, especially that its christmas ryt now. the best time to be in the philippines. I lived all my life in the philippines and moved here in the US on 2004. ever since that time i got here, i wanted to go back right away. even though there is more money here in US, more happiness is still in the philippines. over there, you know all your neighbors, you always have fiestas in every street, or city or town, if u dont have a car, u still go everywhere so easily, theres plenty of cheap food everywhere, every event held in houses, streets, cities, for holidays, or anything is full of fun, lights, entertainment, aaaaaaaarrgggghhhh theres so much to say. but the point is, philippines is a very happy place. no matter how poor or chaotic the government is, the citizens always know how to make ways to make people happy. you should visit philippines when u can. God bless.
